Can I use trackle as a contraceptive?

trackle is authorized as a class IIb medical device as a contraceptive. Not everyone can simply call themselves a contraceptive, for this they must comply with the very strict European directives. Everything is meticulously controlled and constantly monitored by a designated body.

With trackle, there is no hormonal intervention in the cycle like with the pill, and there is also - like for example with condoms - no barrier function.

Contraception is made possible by the fact that the trackle contraception computer helps users to make the sympthothermic method more easily applicable in everyday life and to get to know their own body and cycle. The sympto-thermal method reliably distinguishes fertile from infertile days.

In other words, you know when you can get pregnant and when you can't. And you also know when you should take extra contraception and when you shouldn't.

How safe is contraception with the trackle contraception computer?

The sympto-thermal method has a pearl index 0.4 in case of so-called perfect use (no vaginal intercourse during the fertile period). In case of protected intercourse, the Pearl index is 0.6. It is also important for this to use the method reliably - that is, to have a sufficient amount of basal values and to observe the cervical mucus conscientiously. trackle respects the strict rules of the sympto-thermal method to determine fertile and infertile days. If no evaluation is possible, more days are marked as "fertile".

How can I protect myself if trackle tells me "fertile"?

If you don't want to give up sex during the fertile days, but you don't want to get pregnant either, you should use additional contraception. As many use the planning familial naturel as contraception to be able to do without hormones, barrier methods such as the condom, the diaphragm or the FemCap™ are particularly suitable. Before using these additional methods of contraception, inform yourself in detail about their use.

If I wear trackles during sex, will it prevent me from getting pregnant?

The sensor does not constitute a barrier and therefore cannot provide contraceptive protection by wearing it during intercourse. Before having sex, you must remove the sensor. The pause is detected by trackle and cannot distort the basal value of the night. The trackle contraception computer can determine, using your cervical mucus records and temperature, when you are fertile and when you are not. trackle tells you when you should take extra contraception and when you shouldn't.

Contraceptive computer instead of the pill - how to stop the pill to be able to use trackle as a method of contraception?

When stopping the pill, the opened blister must still be used, so that the interruption bleeding starts at the usual time. This can also be saved as the first period in the app. When stopping hormonal contraceptive methods, also ask your gynecologist for advice. After stopping, it may take some time before ovulation occurs again. See also "Can I use a contraceptive trackle immediately after stopping the pill"?

When can I have safe unprotected sex?

Once ovulation has been assessed in the cycle current, the day of ovulation is marked in yellow in the view and your fertility window appears in blue. These are always the four days before, the day of ovulation itself and the three days after ovulation. The egg can be fertilized for 18 hours after ovulation, so it has a significantly shorter window of time than sperm. Therefore, in the evaluation, the third day is still only half marked in blue: You can safely have unprotected sex again from the evening of the third day after ovulation.

is trackle also suitable for contraception in case of irregular cycles?

The sympto-thermal method - and therefore also the trackle - is based on observing the symptoms of your body. trackle therefore does not calculate the day of your ovulation on the basis of statistics, but each cycle. This is why trackle is also suitable for contraception in case of irregular cycles: The contraception computer trackle always make sure at least twice before giving you an infertile period.

The calculation of the forecasts is done on the basis of your previous cycles. It gets more and more accurate over time, but these are only predictions. Before having unprotected sex, you should wait for the actual evaluation of the current cycle.

Does trackle need an adaptation period?

No, you can start straight away. The evaluation is reliable from the first cycle, because trackle calculates ovulation only on the basis of signals from your body. But what the trackle contraception computer needs for this is a recorded menstruation to signal the start of a new cycle. To do this, you can save your last period in the app or simply wait for the next one. During this time, you can already take your measurements to familiarize yourself with the routine.

The calculation of the forecasts is done on the basis of your previous cycles. It gets more and more accurate over time, but this is only a prediction. Before having unprotected sex, you should wait for the actual evaluation of the current cycle.

does trackle need other inputs than temperature for contraception?

trackle evaluates the data according to the rules of the sympto-thermal method and therefore needs, in addition to the high temperature, your indications concerning the cervical mucus and a peak of cervical mucus.

It is best to observe the cervical mucus at the entrance to the vagina several times a day, for example each time you have to go to the bathroom, and to pay attention to what you smell, feel and see. In the evening, you enter in the application the highest quality that you observed during the day.

Can I use trackle as a contraceptive if I work in a shift?

The principle of trackle is that you wear the sensor when you sleep. This means that the trackle contraception computer is convenient for teamwork, because it doesn't matter when you sleep. In principle, a basal value can be determined as soon as you have slept for 4 hours.

In theory, it can happen in some cases that the change in the time of day has an influence on the measured value - but this is not the case for all women. In this case, you can enter a disturbance for the day in the trackle app - which allows the value to be excluded and not taken into account for the evaluation.

Can I use the trackle birth control computer if I am breastfeeding?

During the period of lactation, first of all there is no cycle or you have to wait until the first ovulation occurs again (depending on the secretion of the hormone prolactin). During this period, you should generally assume that you are fertile.

However, you can use trackle during this period to find out when your cycle is normalizing again.

But trackle needs a full cycle (i.e. day 1 of period until day 1 of next period, with ovulation measured and detected by trackle in between) for assessment (and also for forecasts for the next cycle).

Can I use trackle as a contraceptive as soon as I stop the pill?

After stopping hormonal contraceptives such as the pill, the IUD or the hormonal patch, your body needs time to "readjust" and this takes more or less time depending on the woman. However, you can use the trackle contraception computer immediately after stopping to observe your cycle.

For a reliable assessment (and also for prognoses for the next cycle), however, trackle needs a complete cycle (i.e. from the first day of menstruation until the first day of the next menstruation with measured ovulation and recognized by trackle between the two).

If you have bleeding after stopping (= interruption bleeding), you can already register this bleeding as your first period in the trackle app.

Can I use the trackle birth control computer if I have short/worrying nights?

trackle is also handy for short or restless nights. A total of 4 hours sleep per night is required for a basal value to be determined. The basal value is the lowest value measured during the night - it is usually reached during deep sleep. So there is no problem if you wake up from time to time.

If a value is out of the ordinary, it can be flagged as a disturbance and therefore excluded from the assessment.

Can I use the trackle contraception computer for contraception during menopause?

During menopause, the body undergoes changes. Due to hormonal changes associated with menopause, cycle can become very irregular. The likelihood of a cycle without ovulation is also significantly higher at this time.

The trackle contraception computer can be especially useful during menopause to observe cycle change and ovulation. trackle evaluates your cycle using the symptothermal method - i.e. every day your data is used to check whether an ovulation has already taken place or not yet. Safe contraception is only possible, however, if ovulation is not too frequent and the cycles do not last too long. But trackle knows this and also takes cycle length into account when displaying the infertile period. Very important: trackle does not replace a visit to the doctor either.

Can I use trackle for contraception even with PCOS?

The use of trackle in case of PCOS can be particularly useful: Since trackle does not calculate on the basis of a calendar, but calculates every day again using your personal data and entries, you can use trackle for all types of cycles, even very irregular cycles.

trackle helps you understand whether ovulation has occurred or not.

The prerequisite, however, is menstruation, because without recorded bleeding, trackle cannot start or end a cycle and therefore cannot assess it.

You can also discuss trackle cycle records with your doctor to see if you recognize any regularities. It is important to note that the trackle contraception computer does not replace a visit to the doctor, but only offers an additional possibility to follow your cycle.

Can I use trackle as a contraceptive if I have thyroid disease?

Thyroid hormones also influence cycle hormones. This is why an untreated thyroid disease can have an influence on the menstrual cycle, for example by preventing l'ovulation.

If you don't have cycle due to a lack of thyroid hormones and you never ovulate, trackle cannot be used.
