Cervical mucus

Here to protect you, to support you, to help you find out more! Often underestimated, but so important: your cervical mucus. What cervical mucus is, where it comes from, and what it tells you about your fertility is explained here. It’s worth listening to your body, it tells you everything about your currrent cycle phase and how your body is doing in general.

In the trackle app you can find the abbreviations for the cervical mucus, which you can also see here on the page. This makes the observation and registration very easy. Just give it a try!

Important to know:

The trackle system only confirms your ovulation, when temperature and cervical mucus inputs match. This is the “double bottom" of the symptothermal method: both must be right.

For trackle users, this is pretty easy, because the app has simple button, that you can click.

What is cervical mucus actually?

What you perceive as a discharge is, strictly speaking, a secretion that is produced by glands in the cervix. It protects you by “clogging" your cervix and preventing bacteria from entering.

Cervical mucus exists independently of mucus and discharge. The latter could have a health cause and often requires mecical examination.

Observing cervical mucus and identifying and documenting it’s changes, is part of natural family planning.

Observe cervical mucus the right way!

You can observe your cervical mucus in different ways: feel, touch and see!

Over the day observe what your vaginal introitus feels like: is it dry, humid or even wet?

If you wipe, with your finger or toilet paper, over the entrance of the vagina, you can feel the consistency of your cervical mucus. Does it feel slick or slippery?

Take a closer look at your cervical mucus: Do you even see it? Which color does it have?

That's how the cervical mucus changes.

Phase 1: Barely any cervical mucus

After menstruation your vaginal entrance often feels dry, the cervical mucus starts to increas again. Then you may feel it as a wet feeling without you seeing it.

Phase 2: creamy cervical mucus

When the egg grows and prepares for ovulation, you can also tell from your cervical mucus. It now wanders to the cervix and is cloudy, whitish or yellowish and is plump, dull, creamy, lumpy, sticky or tough and not stretchy.

Phase 3: glassy cervical mucus

The closer you get to ovulatin and become fertile, the more cervical mucus you make and the better its quality. Better in this case means clear, glassy and transparent. Sometimes it has a light yellowness or contains white streaks. It is stretchy and feels slick and slippery. Sperm feels particularly well here.

Phase 4: Dryness after ovulation

After our ovulation your cervical mucus develops back again. It becomes cloudy and lumpy again or it completely sets in, so that you have the feeling that your vaginal entrance is completely dry again.
